All applicants for the MA and LLM programmes at the School should possess a Bachelor degree or equivalent.
We accept a wide range of subjects for entry and you do not need to have necessarily studied Political Science or law previously.
Typical first degrees of our students include Economics, History, Classics, Languages, Philosophy, Geography & Psychology (among others).

This master\'s programme is designed to equip students to address the global geopolitical and social transformation fostered by intensified trans-national economic integration in the early 21st century. 
The aims of the MA in International Political Economy are to:

• Provide students with a research-active teaching environment which gives them a good grounding in the study of Social Science in general and International Political Economy in particular.


• Offer a critical perspective of the interplay between structures and actors in the global economy, political systems and processes, individuals and the institutions of civil society.


• Ensure that students acquire a solid understanding of methodologies for the study of Social Science in general, and in the application of those understandings to the study of International Political Economy in particular.


• Ensure that students acquire a solid understanding of major theoretical approaches to International Political Economy, the historical development of the contemporary global economy, and the application of theoretical and historical knowledge to the analysis and understanding of contemporary issues and cases in the field.


• Ensure that students acquire the necessary skills for advanced assessment of contemporary problems in IPE and their solutions.


• Develop students\' general research skills and personal skills (transferable skills), in particular through a substantial dissertation.
